The service provides a housing support service to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, allowing them to work with staff to make the successful transition from homelessness to a more settled way of life, as well as support to maintain their tenancy.

The key areas of support provided are:

  • Support to develop skills needed to maintain a tenancy;
  • Assistance with completion of forms e.g. Housing Benefit;
  • Signposting to access other support services e.g. health, social work, leisure and education;
  • Support to attend appointments;
  • Assistance with budgeting, correspondence/debt advice/nutrition awareness;
  • Advice and advocacy;
  • Resettlement support;
  • Build skills and knowledge of the community.

Carlisle Road Outreach Housing Support Service

The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide a Housing Support Service in both South Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

The Carlisle Road Outreach Housing Support component of the service supports individuals transitions from Loretto Housing Association's 1st Stop Homeless Accommodation Service to South Lanarkshire Council's temporary furnished accommodation or permanent housing in the South Lanarkshire area.

The Carlisle Road Outreach Support Service operates seven days per week, available 8am-8pm depending on the needs of the person we are supporting.

Dumfries and Galloway Outreach Housing Support Service

The service's Dumfries and Galloway Outreach Housing Support component primarily operates n the Dumfries and Galloway area, providing support to individuals over the age of 16 who are homeless or at risk or becoming homeless in order to ensure a managed transition to suitable settled accommodation and to focus on homelessness prevention and tenancy security that meets the individual's needs.

The service provides our innovative blended approach, which includes both face-to-face and virtual support where appropriate.

The service is available Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

      There is no direct access to either component of the service. Individuals can be referred as detailed below:

      Referrals for Carlisle Road Outreach Support Service - South Lanarkshire Local Authority

      • South Lanarkshire Young Persons Intensive Outreach Housing
      • South Lanarkshire Social Work resources
      • South Lanarkshire Housing Resources.

      All referrals for Carlisle Road Outreach Support Service go through the South Lanarkshire Service Monitoring group which includes the Deputy Service Manager, Debbie Kennedy (SW Resources) and Pat Douglas (Housing Resources) who will agree on the appropriateness, support requirements and priority of the referral.
